The Desire 310 is a phone that HTC
intends to test the low cost segment of the smartphone market. Generally
known for making high-end devices, HTC decides to test the waters with the 310,
and with a price tag of $220 (for US market), it still ends up in the
middle-cost range.
Upon first glance, the HTC Desire 310 bears
the resemblance of a low-cost device. The overall design is rather bland, but
solidly made. The phone has rounded corners that make handling easy, and the
polycarbonate back makes it hard for any slips and fingerprints.
The display on the 310 is a 4.5-inch glass
with 480x854 pixels of resolution. What disappoints is that the display is not
HD, and shows poor images if used outdoors in bright weather. Unless it’s
overcast and dark outside, one will have a hard time with the imaging.
In some markets the HTC Desire 310
comes with dual SIM availability, which is a good feature. However, you can only make use of one SIM at a
time. If SIM 1 receives a call, SIM 2 becomes inactive, and vice versa. Also, SIM
1 can make use of 3G connectivity, while SIM 2 can only connect on 2G.
As entry-level as the Desire 310 may be, it
has a fast processor that makes app responsiveness quite impressive. With a
microSD card slot, you can upgrade on the 4GB of storage provided.
