Samsung Galaxy S8 $599 and Galaxy S8+ $699 unlocked on eBay US

Finally, the day of reckoning has arrived! Does the international and dual-sim deals for Samsung's Galaxy S8/+make you frown? With US unlocked models ignored?

If you answered YES, then you can pick up the Galaxy S8 SM-G950U for $599.99 and S8+ SM-G955U for $699.99 on eBay now. What a crispy discount!

If the S7 is any indicator, updates on the US unlocked models might be a bit late to arrive, but this is a good deal for Samsung's recent pair of flagships.

Tossing a ROM on the phone will keep you away from issues on Samsung's history of delayed updates for US unlocked devices.

I have seen that things are pretty limited right now on current development scene for the phone.

Thankfully, the option is there! Both launched models were armed with Android 7.0 Nougat, at least. So you should be okay for a little while yet.

The S8 and S8+ are fantastic phones, and the DeX Station dock is even down to $116 through a third-party on Amazon.

The eBay seller for this deal has high reviews, and the phones even ship from the US with a US warranty.

If you've been on the fence about picking up an unlocked Galaxy S8, the reasons against it are rapidly dwindling.

Go check this deal by clicking the link below.

Locked vs. Unlocked Cell Phones

Locked Vs Unlocked Phones

You’ve probably heard the terms locked and unlocked when it comes to cell phones, but many people do not know what that means or how to tell the difference between a locked and unlocked phone. This guide will provide all the information you need on locked and unlocked phones, how to tell the two apart, and what the advantages and disadvantages are of each type are.

Overview of the Differences Between Locked and Unlocked Cell Phones

Locked Cell Phones
Locked cell phones can usually be purchased by a wireless network and generally only work with that specific network.

Unlocked Cell Phones
Unlocked cell phones, however, are not connected to a specific network which means that they have the potential to connect to different networks.

Deciding Between Locked and Unlocked Cell Phones

Although choosing an unlocked phone that can work with different carriers might look like the most obvious choice, the choice between locked and unlocked cell phones can be a little more complicated. Here are some deciding factors that can help you choose between a locked and unlocked smart phone.

Price
Unlocked cell phones are usually much more expensive than locked phones when initially purchasing them, by as much as two or three times. While this may seem surprising, the reason behind this is simple. When you buy an unlocked phone, you are paying the full purchase price of the phone whereas most locked phones allow you to pay less for the phone because they take on some of the purchase price.

Locked cell phones are typically less expensive than unlocked phones because wireless carriers often offer great deals on their smart phones when you commit to a long-term contract. Although in some networks it may seem like you’re getting a great deal on a smart phone by buying one this way, people will end up paying more in the long run because of the monthly contract fees. If you do try to get out of your contract early, there is an early termination fee that helps the phone company cover the cost of the phone.

Basically, buying an unlocked cell phone has a higher upfront cost, but it does allow you to change carriers at your leisure which can help you save money by not being tied to a long-term contract. However, if you are already with a carrier that you love and have no reason to change carriers in the next two years, choosing a locked cell phone can help you save money. Take into account that most phones can be unlocked even if they are tied to a contract.

Technological Differences
Whether a phone is locked or unlocked, it can still only use the two main types of wireless technology that all phones use to connect to a network. These technologies are GSM technology and CDMA technology. Phones that use CDMA technology are not able to connect to wireless networks that use GSM technology, and vice versa. This is an important point particularly with unlocked cell phones because it does limit the types of networks the phone can connect to.

Technology Utilized by Locked Cell Phones
The technology used by locked cell phones will vary depending on the wireless provider that it is connected to. However, the technology is not as important in locked phones as is the provider. Locked phones purchased through AT&T, for example, will only work with AT&T. They are on the GSM network, but because the phone is locked, it cannot connect to towers owned by other wireless providers that use GSM technology. This makes a locked phone’s service a little easier to understand because it’s a little more limited.

Technology Utilized by Unlocked Cell Phones
Each phone will be different in terms of the type of technology it operates on. It will either be GSM or CDMA. If it is a phone that uses GSM technology, it can connect to AT&T and T-Mobile. If it uses CDMA technology, it can connect to Verizon and Sprint. This is important to understand if you are buying an unlocked cell phone to use on a specific network because an unlocked cell phone that uses GSM technology could not connect with Verizon’s networks. If you are purchasing an unlocked cell phone and planning on using a particular network, be sure to check which type of technology it uses before making your final decision.

Dual Technology Cell Phones
There are also unlocked cell phones which can actually use both CDMA and GSM technologies. Many of these are considered dual SIM devices which means you can install two SIM cards of two different wireless carriers. That means that by switching out SIM cards, you could potentially use any network by switching out the SIM cards.

How to Unlock a Locked Cell Phone

Unlocking a phone is quite simple and do not required technical knowledge. In most cases all you have to do is to enter the code provided by UnlockCode4U.com when the phone prompts for it.

What you need to know when it comes to unlocking a phone is that to do so, you can contact UnlockCode4U and we walk you through the necessary steps to unlock your phone.

This process happens most often when a customer is planning on leaving the country and want to be able to use their phone in places where they won’t be able to use their regular service provider. They can then use their phone to connect to the networks in the country they are visiting, and then are able to quickly re-connect to their own carrier when they return.

How to Check if a Phone is Unlocked or Locked

Since most cell phones don’t have “locked” or “unlocked” written across their screens, it might take a little detective work to figure out which one they are. However, there are a few simple tricks that you can use to figure out if a phone is locked or unlocked.

Branding
Most locked cell phones will have the brand of the specific carrier they were built for, so finding a brand name or a carrier’s logo is usually a good indication that it is or was a locked phone. While nearly all phones will have the logo or name of the manufacturer, unlocked phones will rarely carry any additional brandings.

If there is not an obvious wireless carrier logo on the outside of the phone, you can also check for branding by turning the phone on. Most locked phones will have the carrier’s logo appear while the phone is turning on.

Duel SIMs
Phones that have duel SIM card ports are nearly always designed to connect to different types of technologies or at least different types of wireless providers. This is a very good indication that the phone is unlocked and was originally sold as an unlocked phone because if it was locked for just one carrier, there would be no need for an additional SIM card port.

Model Number
To confirm whether the phone is locked or unlocked, you can search for the model number online. This can be found on the back of the phone, usually beneath the battery or on the battery door. After you locate the model number, search for it online and you will soon discover if the cell phone was originally sold as unlocked or locked. You can also discover what type of technology the phone uses by doing a model number search.

Insert a Different SIM
The best test to find out if the phone is locked or unlocked is to try a SIM card for a different network. Once you’ve done the model number search to confirm the type of technology it uses, place a SIM card from a different carrier that has the same technology. If the phone is unlocked, it will quickly connect to the new service provider and you shouldn’t have any other problems. If the phone is locked, in most cases it will prompt for the Network Unlock Code.

Benefits and Downfalls of Unlocked and Locked Cell Phones

Benefits of Unlocked Cell Phones
- Freedom to choose between different wireless carriers
- No long-term contract so you can change carriers whenever you want without penalty.
- Unlocked phones don’t come with any extra bells and whistles that the carrier installs so you can just add the apps and programs that you want.
- These can save money in the long run because of the extra expenses that come from being locked into a long-term contract, and by being able to choose a wireless company that offers better pricing options.
- Unlocked phones typically have a higher resale value if you decide to sell your phone. This is because they are sought after by a larger audience of people and are preferred by people who travel overseas as well as people around the world who don’t have access to the wireless carrier in your area who are looking for a good smart phone.
- It’s also great if you travel out of the country because you can easily switch out your SIM card when you arrive and then begin using the foreign wireless carriers until you get back to your homeland.

Downfalls of Unlocked Cell Phones
- The only real downfall is the upfront cost is a lot higher for unlocked cell phones. However, by doing some math, you should be able to figure out whether or not an unlocked cell phone will actually save you money in the long run based on the total cost of monthly phone bills combined with monthly phone payments.

Benefits of Locked Cell Phones
- The initial cost of a locked cell phone can be a lot less expensive, particularly if you are already planning on using a particular wireless network carrier, and are not worried about committing to a long-term contract.
- There are also a number of warranty options that usually come with locked cell phones that you can choose from because many wireless carriers have their own warranty programs that allow you to work directly with your carrier if there are any problems with your phone. This avoids the need for sending your phone off to the manufacturer if there are any problems and could save you money if there are specific problems that are covered by the warranty.
- Locked cell phones may be found in a much wider variety than unlocked cell phones because the wireless carriers stock a number of different phone options whereas manufacturers do not put out as many varieties of unlocked phones. This can let you more freely choose from the many types of phones that are available to you.
- Most phones from GSM Carrier networks can be easily unlocked by unlock code without voiding the phone's warranty.

Downfalls of an Locked Cell Phone
- You are not able to choose which wireless carrier to work with, and if you do decide to change carriers in the future and you will either have to go through the process of unlocking your phone or buy a new phone.
- Most phone companies are able to offer great deals on their locked cell phones because you have to sign a long-term contract which will last either one or two years.
- Many carriers include extra apps and features installed onto all of their locked phones, all of which pertain directly to their company. These usually cannot be easily uninstalled which means you are stuck with these programs whether you want them or not.

Other Information on Unlocked and Locked Cell Phones

When it comes to unlocking a GSM phone versus a CDMA phone, there are a couple of notable differences. Because most phones that use GSM technology also have removable SIM cards, they are usually more easily unlocked when compared to CDMA phones. Many CDMA phones have built-in SIM cards which means they cannot always be unlocked, even with an unlocking code directly from the manufacturer. To unlock a phone that uses CDMA technology, you may have to bring them in person to the wireless network you are trying to connect to once you are able to get them unlocked.

Worldwide Cell Phone Technologies
While the United States almost exclusively uses either GSM or CDMA technologies, most of the rest of the world uses GSM. Industry experts predict that the world is headed toward exclusively using GSM technologies. If you are looking for an unlocked cell phone in order to travel, it is best to find one that uses GSM technologies since it is more readily available around the globe.

How to know if my Sony Phone Network is Fully Unlocked or Hardlocked

Make sure that you check if your Sony Xperia has enough attempts to enter the code, otherwise the correct unlock code WON'T work. Keep also in mind that there are no refunds if you purchase a code when your phone is hardlocked. Please TRIPLE check before ordering!

To check if your Sony phone is Unlocked or Hardlocked

1. With a Non accepted SIM card start up the phone.

2. Type in the following sequence from the lock menu on your Sony Ericsson X10, X10i, X10 Mini, X10 Mini Pro, or X8 device:

Menu -> Back -> Back -> Menu -> Back -> Menu -> Menu ->Back

(If this doesn’t work, dial: *#*#7378423#*#* )

3. Select Service Menu -> SIM Lock

You will see a menu:

EX:

[X] Network 10

[ ] Network Subset 10
[ ] Service Provider 10
[ ] Corporate 10
[ ] Sim 0

If it shows [ ] rather than [x] for all the boxes above, it means your phone is fully unlocked.

If it shows [X] Network 10, it means that your phone is locked and you have 10 attempts to enter the code.

If it shows [X] Network 0, it means your phone is hardlocked and you have 0 attempts to enter the code. You can only unlock your phone via Xperia Unlock Software in this case.

Remember, the best way to find out whether your phone is locked or unlocked is by power it on with a non accepted SIM card, and see if you can make a call with it.

Unlocking Steps for Samsung Phones

Unlock Samsung Phone

* Video proof will be required if the Unlock code does not work, it's a good idea to film it so we can help trouble shoot what the problem is.

There is an error with some Galaxy phones where sometimes when entering the code it will display "Sim Network Unlock Unsuccessful", when in fact the device was unlocked. Try pulling the battery and restart the phone, if the prompt for "Sim Network Unlock Pin" no longer appears, the device has been successfully unlocked.

There are Multiple Unlock Codes

Unlock Code is the  Network=xxxxxxxx Unlock Code as shown below:

Example:
NETWORK=xxxxxxxx; PROVIDER=xxxxxxxx; SUBPROVIDER=xxxxxxxx; DEFREEZE=xxxxxxxx

* You can ignore the rest of the codes, unless you are receiving a "Phone Freeze" message when trying to input the Unlock Code. (Instructions on Freeze Code message your will find below)

How to enter the code:
Try the following Instructions in below Order: (**Different phones have different Unlock Code Input Instructions**)

Method #1 Insert a Non accepted SIM card in your phone and power on. Once finished loading your phone will ask you to enter a code, enter the Unlock Code
*Non Accepted SIM card is any SIMcard not from the original provider

OR

Method #2 Go to the dial screen on your phone as if you are going to make a call and press: #7465625*638*UNLOCKCODE# (8 digit unlock code)

OR

Method #3 Go to the dial screen on your phone as if you are going to make a call and press: #0111*UNLOCKCODE# (8 digit unlock code)

If you tried above steps and your Phone says, "Code Accepted" or "Network Unlock Successful" or "Not Yet Personalized" your phone is now fully Unlocked!!!

*Please note if you are not receiving any signal after unlocking, make sure your wireless connections are turned on after unlocking the phone. Also pull the battery and restart phone.

How to ensure that my Phone is Fully Unlocked?

Go to the dial screen on your phone, and press *#7465625#

A menu will be displayed that will resemble the following...

1. [ ] Network lock
2. [ ] Subset lock
3. [ ] SP lock

If everything if OFF, then your phone is fully unlocked.

Trouble Shooting:
1.My hone says "Phone Freeze"

What is “Phone freeze” - it is a result of the incorrect code being inputted incorrectly too many times, it means your Samsung device is Hardlocked.  You will require a Defreeze code and a Network Code to Unlock your phone.

Example:
NETWORK=xxxxxxxx; PROVIDER=xxxxxxxx; SUBPROVIDER=xxxxxxxx; DEFREEZE=xxxxxxxx

2. "Code Error" or "SIM Network Unlock Unsuccessful" What do I do?

If you get above message on your phone  Please check your IMEI number by pressing *#06#, this is the most common reason the code doesn't work.  If the first 15 digits which appear is different from the 15 digit IMEI number provided on the order,  please send email to: Contact@UnlockCode4u.com

Otherwise try the following below:

Option #1 "Release method"
(Samsung Galaxy S2, S3, Note , Note 2)

Follow these steps carefully, if you have correct code it will work 100% (Your phone must be updated to the latest firmware!)

1. The code must be correct and the phone MUST prompt for the code.

2. If phone is still locked after above 2 options we can proceed to use the "release method" on the phone(s):

a. Go to the Dial pad and dial *#197328640#

b. Please click on number [1] UMTS > [1] Debugging screen > [8] Phone Control > [6] NETWORK LOCK

f. Please click on number [2] Perso Sha256 ON, the screen will change again to a one line message

g. Restart the phone on the screen by holding the power button and click RESTART

h. When the phone prompts for the unlock code simply enter the unlock code

i. Your phone is now permanently unlocked!

(Samsung Galaxy S4 Only)
Follow these steps carefully, as long as you have the correct code it will work 100% (Your phone must be updated to the latest firmware!)

1. Make sure that the phone PROMPTS for the code with a NON accepted SIM card and that your IMEI is correct by dialling *#06#

a. Go to the Dial pad and dial *#0011#

b. Please click your MENU button (Bottom LEFT button) and click BACK on the menu that appears, nothing will happen do not worry please move to the next step

c. Please click your MENU button AGAIN and this time click KEY INPUT

d. When the Key input box appears please input the number "1" and hit OK

e. You will see a number 1 for a while, please wait until it changes into the SERVICE MENU

f. Please click [1] UMTS > [1] DEBUGGING SCREEN > [6] Phone Control > [6] Network LOCK

g. You will see 3 OPTIONS within Network LOCK

h. Please click on number [1] Perso Sha256 INFO, the screen will change slightly

i. Please hit the MENU button then when the menu pops up please carefully hit BACK to return to the previous screen

j. Next please click on number [2] Perso Sha256 ON, the screen will change again to a one line message

NOTE: If you see ENABLE_FLAG[1], refer to the notes below. If you see ENABLE_FLAG[0], proceed with step k.

k. Restart the phone on the screen by holding the power button and click RESTART

l. When the phone prompts for the unlock code simply enter the unlock code provided to you

m. Your phone is now permanently unlocked!

*NOTE - If it shows ENABLE_FLAG[1]:
Press menu, select back to go back to the Network Lock menu.
Select [3] Perso Sha256 OFF, then select the first item after.
It will say "Menu not exist".
Press menu, select back, press menu, select back to go back to the network lock menu again.
Select [2] Perso Sha256 ON again, it should now show Enable_Flag[0]
You may continue to step k in the previous instructions.

*If this is not working, go to Option #2

Option #2
Please follow these steps carefully!

1. Power Off and On your phone with different network SIM card. "SIM network unlock PIN" or "Enter Network Lock Control Key" screen will appear.

2. Type your Unfreeze code (MCK code) and hit Unlock button. You will get "unsuccessful message" again but don't worry.

3. Now type the Unlock code (Network or NCK code) and hit Unlock button.
*If phone say "Network Lock Successful" it worked, but if not, proceed to step 4.

4. CAUTION! This will reformat all your data! – follow steps below:

If you get "unsuccessful" again then hit Dismiss button and type *2767*3855# on phone keypad

5. After phone restarts, type the Unfreeze code (MCK code) when prompted to enter "SIM network unlock PIN" or "Enter Network Lock Control Key" screen and hit unlock button.
It will say "unsuccessful" again, don't worry!

6. Type the Unlock code (Network or NCK code) and hit Unlock button.

7. Your phone should now give you the message "Network Lock Successful"

Now your phone is successfully unlocked!
*If this is not working, go to Option #3

Option #3
1.   Turn off the Wi-Fi on your phone and then turn device ON without SIM card.

Once it's on go to phone dial screen and DIAL: *7465625*638*#
it will bring you to the NETWORK LOCK screen.

- in MCC/MNC field enter code for the service provider your phone is originally from (eg 31026 for T-Mobile USA)

check here for list of codes:

**If your network has more than one mcc/mnc please try all of them this is very important

- in CONTROL KEY field enter the UNLOCK code
- hit OK
- you should get a message: LOCK SUCCESSFUL

Power phone down, insert SIM card you want your phone to work with and power on.

3. I can make Calls and Text but I'm not getting Internet Service.

In this case you will need to adjust what's called the APN settings.
The APN settings vary depending on the service provider you are trying to use.  Please contact your service provider and they can assist you setting this up.  There is no separate unlock for data or internet.

**If you can call or text, your phone's network is already fully unlocked.**

4. Phone is asking for the "PUK" or "Security Pin" or "Password"

If your phone is asking for one of the above, it is the SIM card personal password or phone security password NOT the Network Lock which we provide for you.  You can contact your service provider for this.
**Once you bypass this, you can use the Network Unlock Code provided by us.**

5. Phone seems to be unlocked but I'm not getting any signal

Please ensure with your service provider that your unlocked phone will be compatible on their network.
Not all GSM phones are compatible with any Network after unlocking it.  The unlocked phone must be able to support the Network's Frequency.  If you are unsure of this, please contact them regarding this.

It is also very important to make sure your device has not been reported loss or stolen as they may also cause this issue.

After unlocking your phone, please pull the battery for a couple minutes and then restart the device.  It may take a few minutes for your phone to pick up the new signal. Also go to your Network settings on your phone, and make sure the device can detect the signal from the card you are trying use.
